Dec. 22nd, 2010 12:19 pmSo the weekend was pretty busy for me. I went out twice and did a huge bunch of work at my apartment.
Friday night I went out to my friend’s event in Shinjuku. It’s hard to refuse when you get put on a guest list because I have almost no excuse to not go when it’s free. I went directly from work and stayed until about 10:30. That’s not so bad. I got to see some people and hang out for a while.
Saturday, I was back in Shinjuku for another small event. It’s kind of a gothic/rock type event and I’m not a fan of the music or anything but I knew a ton of people there (including a completely unexpected appearance by swirly_girl) and I had a good time.
Sunday, after sleeping for half of the day, I got up and set about on a massive apartment retooling project. Actually, I just switched the rooms of my apartment to add more space to the area where I spend more time (the living room) and to decrease the space in my bedroom. I moved my bed into the smaller room, which it nearly fills completely and I moved the living room into the room that was formerly my bedroom.
The result is good though. The living room is actually suitable for guests now as there is easily twice as much available space. I pretty much only slept in the bedroom anyway so the smaller room is ideal. Not only that, it doesn’t have windows that face the rising sun, which means I sleep better and longer.
The extra space also affords me the ability to use a Kinect. So Monday, I went to Akihabara and picked up a Kinect sensor and “Dance Central” which is pretty much the only game that people currently recommend for the Kinect. I didn’t do any dancing with it yet but it apparently will actually teach you legitimate dance moves, which is fun. It also includes a Bel Biv Devoe track (“Poison”). So far I have played Kinect Adventures, the game that comes with the Kinect and I also use the Kinect to control my Xbox like a computer from Minority Report. Mostly I’m excited for the horror games that are coming next year.
Tomorrow is my Christmas party. I don’t think anyone is coming as I haven’t heard from almost anyone. At least I will be able to eat a lot of delicious ham. Tonight I’ll be making an apple pie and a carrot cake.
