Feb. 25th, 2009 09:24 am- After getting home from work yesterday I got right to cooking which was not exactly what I wanted to do because I was tired and wanted to relax a bit. The problem was that I had band practice later in the evening so I had to hurry up and do something before I left.
- What I cooked was a some pieces of fried chicken with white gravy and cornbread. The cornbread turned out pretty good considering I guestimated all of the measurements. I feel like a ate a meal at Cracker Barrel except there were not enough sides of fried okra and macaroni and cheese to make it believable.
- After eating and sitting around for an hour watching the UK version of the Office on DVD, I headed out for band practice. Practice went OK considering I haven't practiced in more than a month or even picked up my bass for that matter. It worked out though because all the songs came back after a few minutes and what I didn't remember was easily done via sight. It was a late night though.
- On the way home the drummer was telling me that there is a place that sells specialty cheeses in Shibuya that just opened recently. He claimed there were about 80 types of cheese there so I am really excited to go check it out. He didn't know where it was though so I still have to actually find it. As I may have mentioned, he lived in Albany for 14 years so he tends to have cravings for all the same types of food that I want. We both got really excited talking about kielbasa and calzones.
- I've decided to start baking my own bread also. I don't really eat a ton of bread but making passable bread doesn't seem like a terribly difficult chore and it would almost definitely have a lot less additives. There is a bakery in the supermaket I usually go to and I want to point out that even their bread is full of additives and emulsifiers. Bread doesn't need that many ingredients! Plus I have the sudden want to make a lot of weird stuffed breads so I'm going to get on it.
- So I'm going to start doing my workout again starting from next week. This time I am going to add in the suggested anaerobic training that goes with it. I am generally a sedentary guy so my stamina for things like running is appallingly low. If I can make it through the 20 minutes of running that is involved without puking or dying I will be incredibly proud of myself. The regular weight training part is pretty much fine though. I didn't have a terrible time with that.
