The week was almost a complete washout. Thursday I was supposed to have my Christmas dinner, and I sort of did, except that nearly everyone cancelled the night before or in the morning. Meaning I had enough food for 8 people but only 2 people showed up. Luckily, I didn’t make the pie the night before or I would have had a perilous amount of leftovers.

I made a ham though. I made a glaze out of butter, honey, cloves, and brown sugar and basted it every 15 minutes. It turned out really well as the skin and scoring on top caramelized and crackled and tasted amazing. I cut back on the stuff I was making as well so I didn’t end up using a bunch of what I bought. I did make a huge carrot cake though. Both of the people who were there had never had an actual roasted ham or carrot cake before though so it was completely new to them. They really liked both and I sent them home with some of each. Not that I still don’t have enough for dinner for four.

I finally got around to playing Dance Central with the people that were over for my dinner. It was actually a lot of fun. I got to dance poorly to Bel Biv Devoe and break out the disco moves for Funky Town. I am totally sold on Dance Central as it was a lot of fun to do dance battles with people. I lost literally every one (though in my defense, the people I was battling against are people who do dance related things). The best part seems to be that if I was willing to put in the practice, I could actually learn dance routines. I don’t know that I will go that far but it should be fun dancing like a jackass every once in a while.

Friday I had more work so I spent the day translating. I had a retake of my Christmas dinner with leftovers in the evening, which wasn’t so bad.

On Christmas I slept late and didn’t do much until the afternoon where I finally got my broken tooth completely fixed. I have to go back to the dentist for some other junk still but at least the major issue is covered. I can’t complain about that. I’ll be glad once my entire mouth is in a good state again.

I had intended to go to Decadance on Christmas but I actually didn’t end up going because I got absorbed into an iphone game and lost track of time. Before I knew it, I had missed the last train out. The game is fun and I probably needed the extra sleep anyway. Oh yeah, the game is “Game Dev Story”, which is a game about running a company that makes games.

Sunday I slept until noon and then spent the day doing a whole lot of nothing. I spent a lot of time sitting in my living room trying to think of stuff to do though. In the end I played some games and watched some tv shows on youtube. When I think about it, I should probably get cracking on the huge back log of TV show dvds I have now. I think I have about 20 seasons worth of TV shows that I haven’t watched yet. Maybe I’ll get into that during my week off for the new year.

Monday I had an interesting adventure though that one has to go up on my other LJ as that is its rightful place.

Today is the beginning of my newyears vacation so I am off until the 4th. No real plans for the holidays though.
